About The Author

Jan DeBell Daniel, MSN, FNP-BC

Jan DeBell Daniel is a healthcare professional, entrepreneur, inventor, wife, mother, and now author. Her journey through healthcare began as a Certified Medical Assistant and evolved into careers as a Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner. Among many other jobs, she owned and operated her own primary care practice before transitioning into psychiatric medicine.

Throughout her career, Jan has cared for patients in countless seasons of life, celebrating victories, navigating losses, and witnessing the resilience of the human spirit. Those experiences, combined with her own personal challenges and triumphs, shaped her belief that some of life’s most important lessons are learned not in classrooms, but through compassion, perseverance, and service to others.

The Quiet Education of Care grew from Jan’s desire to preserve her story for her children and her family, but it became something larger: a reflection on the winding path that led her from self-doubt and setbacks to a meaningful life dedicated to caring for others. Through honest storytelling, she explores themes of resilience, reinvention, motherhood, healing, and the unexpected ways life teaches us who we are and what we are capable of.

Jan lives in Stokesdale, North Carolina, with her husband, Mickey, near Belews Lake, which the two of them love to explore together. Surrounded by trees, wildlife, family, and the quiet beauty of everyday life, she continues to find inspiration in the ordinary moments that often leave the deepest impressions.

The Quiet Education of Care is her first memoir.
